Here are some of the courses that will be on offer from Autism Outreach for 2010. They can be offered on site for education institutions, schools, councils, PCTs, organisations and Local Authorities etc or delivered at a venue that is geographically convenient for a variety of delegates.

2010 courses will include:

  • Introduction to Autism and Asperger Syndrome
    and Behaviours that Challenge (1 or 2 day course)
  • A Personal Perspective - a reflection on a life with Asperger Syndrome and some interesting and revealing 'signposts' along the way! 1 day
  • Relationships - investigating relationships between a person with an ASD and one without - 1 day
  • Strategies for teachers - 1 day (attendance at an introductory course, or equivalent, is recommended)
  • Sensory differences - 1 day (exploring sensory differences and the way they impact on people with ASDs. Strategies for coping for everyone including people with ASDs)
  • ASDs in the community - an awareness raising course (attended by parents of children without a diagnosis, school governors etc) - 1 day
  • Making an Autism-friendly school - 1 or 2 day
  • Making an Autism-friendly workplace - 4 - 7 day
  • Setting up support groups - half day
  • Disability Discrimination Act and Risk Assessment - half day
  • Music and Autism - a practical look at the value of sound in the support of people with an ASD suitable for teachers, parents and therapists - 1 day to 5 day courses are available as well as longer term training programmes. This programme is offered in collaboration with Music for Autism www.music4asd.com

Autism Outreach can also  provide experienced conference speakers on a wide range of issues on autism. Conferences include NAS Harrogate branch annual conference, Bradford and Disrict Autism Support Group conference, International Autism Conference at Dublin Castle and many others.
